1. Do you think Millersville University was justified in disqualifying Stacy from earning her teaching degree because of her profile page? Why, or why not?

2. How would the situation be different if the context of the photo were taken into account? For instance: What if the caption of the photo was not “Drunken Pirate,” but “Happy Halloween” or “My friend forced me to wear this pirate hat”? What if a post accompanying the photo said that it had been taken at a child’s birthday party and Stacy was drinking punch?

3. What if Stacy’s friend Joe had posted the picture of Stacy without her knowing it, and tagged her with the “Drunken Pirate” caption? Does the fact that Joe posted the picture change the situation? Why or why not?

4. How can people’s reputations be affected by what is posted about them online? What impact could this have on their future?

5.What should you ask yourself before you post a photo, video, or other information about another person online?

1) Do you think Millersville University was justified in disqualifying Stacy from earning her teaching degree because of her profile page? Why, or why not? I think it’s not fair because she did her job, her private life outside of school should not affect her work life, she’s a legal adult and she has her rights. She did nothing wrong and everything was after school hours. She paid money, worked for her degree then didn’t get it because she posted a photo on her social media of her drinking legally not as a teacher but hanging out with her friends, she’s a human being and should be treated like a human being.
5) What should you ask yourself before you post a photo, video, or other information about another person online? You should ask yourself if you might regret posting it, try to keep your privacy secure.
4) How can people’s reputations be affected by what is posted about them online? What impact could this have on their future? Certain places may not want to hire you, family rep, friend rep, & colleges

1. Do you think Millersville University was justified in disqualifying Stacy from earning her teaching degree because of her profile page? Why, or why not?
I think that the Millersville University was not justified in disqualifying Stacy’s because it was an honest mistake that she made. People are allowed to let loose and have fun once in a while, especially in college because it’s a stressful place to be in.

If the picture had been captioned differently, I’m sure the Millersville University would have not reacted at all because there is no proof that the contents of the cup were alcohol.

3. What if Stacy’s friend Joe had posted the picture of Stacy without her knowing it, and tagged her with the “Drunken Pirate” caption? Does the fact that Joe posted the picture change the situation? Why or why not?
If joe had tagged her in the picture, I think that it would not have changed the situation (except that Stacy would be angry at Joe) because it’s still something that Stacy did.

Should you ask yourself before you post a photo, video or other information about another person online? I believe you should due to the fact of how it makes you look as an individual. You can easily ruin a person life depending on what you post online, it never goes away and it just leads to endless destruction. I understand that many people get so fed up with situations that they are in but its never okaii to go that far into doing something. Or even letting it turn violence. Your basically putting someones life at risk, it doesn't take much to actually think about the other persons feelings. its a low blow in all honesty and this is why many kids are killing themselves due to what is put on the internet....

Q1. Do you think Millersville University was justified in disqualifying Stacy from earning her teaching degree because of her profile page? Why, or why not? No, when the sole reason for her disqualification is an image posted on her Myspace profile that does not represents her as a person or student. But if there were to be files on top of file proving that she could not function as a student than by all mean Millersville would be justified

Q2. How can people’s reputations be affected by what is posted about them online? What impact could this have on their future? They credibility could be tarnish and no respectable business would even consider them for a job in their company.

Q3.What should you ask yourself before you post a photo, video, or other information about another person online? Do I have your permission to do this or that

1) Do you think Millersville University was justified in disqualifying Stacy from earning her teaching degree because of her profile page? Why, or why not?
A) I honestly think that the situation was very unfair and ridiculous due to the fact that this was before she entered college. It seems as if this is society regardless, It’s always been like this. However, I feel as if it’s unfair because like the story said; it was not identified of what was actually in her cup.

2) What should you ask yourself before you post a photo, video, or other information about another person online?
A) I would ask myself ‘should I do this?’ Every time I take a picture of myself, or especially another person I ask them do they want this uploaded. You never know who’s going to see it. I also watch what I sent to other people. One upload of a picture or video could ruin your entire future. It’s just that scary nowadays.

3) How can people’s reputations be affected by what is posted about them online? What impact could this have on their future?
A) Based off what is shown online can be the assumption of how the person may be at their job. Or just a reputation. The word gets around fast and business is supposed to be classy. It might get thrown back at you in a negative view from the people who are hiring you for their job.

q2 it would have done alot of difference because then the college wouldnt have assumed it was of her encouraging underage drinking but instead encouraging a party.

q4 people can snapshot it and trash talk it or it can affect you in a much worse way such as getting a job.

q5 will it affect me? will it stop me from getting a job? will this harm me in the long run?

1. Do you think Millersville University was justified in disqualifying Stacy from earning her teaching degree because of her profile page? Why, or why not?
No, I do not think Milliersville University was justified in disqualifying Stacy from earning her teaching degree. Her profile page should not have disqualified her. It has nothing to do with her education and competency as a teacher. If she did the work to earn a teaching degree then that was what she deserved.

The situation would be drastically different. Especially, if the post claimed that Stacy was drinking punch. I'm willing to bet if that was the case than the university's perception of Stacey would be positive and she would have earned her teaching degree.

3. What if Stacy’s friend Joe had posted the picture of Stacy without her knowing it, and tagged her with the “Drunken Pirate” caption? Does the fact that Joe posted the picture change the situation? Why or why not? Yes, it does change the situation. If Stacy did not consent to the picture being posted than the situation would have been different. Perhaps she would have earned her teaching degree if someone posted the picture without her knowledge. Either way, I do not believe Stacy should have been penalized and denied her degree.

4. How can people’s reputations be affected by what is posted about them online? What impact could this have on their future?
People's reputation can be affected negatively or positively by what is posted about them online. This story is proof of that. It could have a huge impact on someone's future. What's posted about someone online is now taken into consideration by universities and future employers. Your future can definitely be affected by this.
5.What should you ask yourself before you post a photo, video, or other information about another person online?
You should ask yourself if you would be proud to share this with the world and if it could negatively or positively affect your future. You should only share what you would be happy for others to know.

1. Do you think Millersville University was justified in disqualifying Stacy from earning her teaching degree because of her profile page? Why, or why not?
No, I do not think the university was justified in disqualifying Stacy because of her profile page. It is not clear enough based on their findings that she was drinking an alcoholic beverage, and even if it was, she is of the legal drinking age when the photo was taken. While it wasn't the smartest idea to post the photo, it does nothing to dishonor the work she put in to getting her degree.

4. How can people’s reputations be affected by what is posted about them online? What impact could this have on their future?
A person's reputation can be affected by what is posted about them online by portraying them (not always accurately) in their daily life. This can have an impact on their future by presenting themselves to the online world in a way that isn't always flattering when it comes to college or job applications.

5.What should you ask yourself before you post a photo, video, or other information about another person online?

You should ask yourself if you would be proud to share this with someone in your day to day conversations. You should also ask yourself if it truly reflects you as a person.
